A welcoming woman-run recording & songwriting studio where ideas flow freely and performance magic is skillfully captured & shaped into great sonic results.
"A producer and engineer of integrity who oozes musicality - among the brightest our industry has to offer."
- Michael Wojewoda, Juno & Polaris Prize winning Producer/Engineer (Bare Naked Ladies, Great Big Sea, Rheostatics)
From in-house producer engineer songwriter Lisa Patterson:
UNDIVIDED ATTENTION
"I'm all ears and all in. I custom design a step by step process for your project so that you can relax and focus on the artistry. My approach in the studio is flexible: I can shift along a spectrum between collaborative and fully directing, depending on what's needed. I enjoy empowering artists - if requested, I'm happy to explain technical or artistic choices. I'll keep a steady eye on your timeline and budget."
Skills & Expertise
"You can tap and combine any combination of my musical, technical or creative skill set for maximum benefit and results. Your performance magic will be skillfully directed, captured and shaped. My greatest satisfaction is when I hear you say, 'I love it!'. You might also say that about my excellent coffee."
The Right Environment
"Whether in my studio or utilizing an ally-run space for site specific sessions, I ensure that all creatives experience a welcoming, inclusive and safe work environment. I guarantee women, gender diverse and BIPOC artists an atmosphere where they can rise to their highest potential. And when you need to stretch out on a yoga mat or smudge or go to the rooftop and stare at the sky, I've got you."
Vocal Production Sweet Spot
"Being under the microscope of the microphone while accessing your inner world is a vulnerable place to be. Singers already have a lot going on: delivering the lyrics
believably; executing the melody in time & in tune; exploring nuances on the fly and balancing self-assessment with self-love. A respectful dynamic between the singer and vocal producer plays a crucial role in work flow and a satisfying outcome. I spent years in iso booths with top producers at the console, gathered all those do's and don'ts into effective strategies, and applied them in hundreds of hours as professional vocal producer. Whatever the musical genre or song theme, my aim is to guide vocalists into the sweet spot between total relaxation and the courageous leap into the unknown."
