LVR GRL EP 2025
Semiah
Singer - Songwriter - Producer
Dancer - Choreographer - Video Director
Wardrobe Designer - Handcrafted Merch Maker
Semiah has had a breakout past 12 months. Her sophomore EP LVR GRL was released through AWAL, she won a DORA Award for Outstanding Composer, was deemed standout performer at Sweden's VIVA Sounds Festival by Louder Than War (UK) and was invited support artist for Aysanabee and Jully Black.
“A fascinating performer whose music transcends genres ... we’re predicting big things ahead.” - Under the Radar (UK)
Based between Six Nations of the Grand River and the City of Toronto, Semiah creates music shaped by the intersection of the worlds she inhabits. Synth-laced dark pop and intimate singer-songwriter confessionals are united by a distinctive vocal style that weaves in subtle Haudenosaunee influences. Through cinematic lyrics and emotionally charged performances, Semiah explores resilience, defiance and independence. Think Charli XCX’s edge, Kate Bush’s artfulness, and Dolly Parton’s vocal harmonies, filtered through the mind of a Mohawk rebel blazing an unmarked trail.
“This isn't really like any other sound out there right now” - Raised by Cassettes, USA
Every recording, live show, fan interaction and social media post is animated by Semiah’s natural story-telling personality and fashion-forward instincts. From video direction to dance choreography to handmade merch and stage visuals, every aspect of Semiah's art reflects her DIY spirit and bold creative vision. Audiences are moved by it and that’s why standing ovations and encores are commonplace.
“A refreshingly authentic talent, blending skill, charisma, and a strong connection to her roots.” - Vocal Beat, USA
LVR GRL EP features the track “Clementine”, named Song of the Day by earshot! and Track of the Week by the Songwriters Association of Canada. The official video directed by Semiah offers a native take on the iconic film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind from the perspective of Kate Winslet’s character.
“I watched this movie endlessly while working through my own impulsivity in a breakup. Clementine taught me a lot about myself,” says Semiah.
LVR GRL also includes angst-ridden acoustic ballad DED 2 ME, beautifully mixed by JUNO award-winning producer Gus van Go (The Beaches, Metric).
Semiah’s songs are playlisted on CBC Radio, SiriusXM, and The Journey FM. She’s been spotlighted on Indigenous TV, and surpassed 100,000 streams across platforms. Her directorial debut of her music video for “Withdrawals” single was premiered at Finland’s renowned Skábmagovat Film Festival 2025.

Raised on a family motto of “don’t half-ass it” Semiah continues an impressive lineage: her mother, Santee Smith, is an award-winning choreographer and Order of Canada recipient; her father George Leach is a Juno Award–winning musician; and her actor great-uncle Jay Silverheels, played the iconic Tonto character in The Lone Ranger TV series.
Semiah is currently developing a new era of songs, visuals and aesthetics enroute towards her debut album.
• LIVE PERFORMANCE REVIEWS •
Semiah is a fascinating stage performer whose music transcends genres thanks to the full-on pop of “White Lightning” (think Charli xcx), the melancholic “I Cry The Same” (The Smiths) and the Six Nations inspired “Broken Heart”, which sees Semiah use a traditional indigenous hand drum as its main instrument. With a new EP LVR GRL, we’re predicting big things ahead for Semiah.
